How can I fix an insufficient charger current?

A

AC Question

insufficient charger current

My tablet will charge until it reaches about 31%, and then all of a sudden I'll get a pop up saying "insufficient charger current". Normally it would drop to 0 after that and then shut off, but today it stopped at 13% and hasn't moved.

Re: insufficient charger current

Hi and welcome to AndroidCentral.

What tablet do you have? Are you using the charger that came with your tablet or some other charger? How old is your battery?

Re: insufficient charger current

Asus tablet (not sure if there's any other information you need), the battery is about a year old. I'm using a different charger, but even the one that came with the tablet was having a similar problem, mine you the charge didn't get past 10% before getting the popup.

Re: insufficient charger current

Have you noticed if the pins in the charging port are bent or broken?

If the battery is not bad, and the charging cables are not bad, then there could be a problem with the USB port on the tablet.

I would suggest taking it to a repair shop to have it looked at.

Re: insufficient charger current

Cheaper solution before you go do that is buy or borrow a higher "A" output charger
