How to create icon for an installed apk app on android lollipop

Device: Google Nexus 10
android lollipop 5.1
I just installed the Tubemate app but there is no icon. On 4.4.4 I would just hold down with my stylus and would get an option of creating an icon for an app. In lollipop, that's gone. I cannot create an icon for Tubemate. Very annoying. How do we get around this ?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about getting the TubeMate shortcut onto the homescreen? Or are you trying to create an icon to replace the default Android icon in the App Drawer?

Yeah, the shortcut on the home screen so that I can click on that to start the Tubemate app!
Thanks much.

Open your app drawer, find Tubemate, long press it, and drag and drop it to the homescreen. Are you able to do that?
