Help "Error 140 bootloader version error"

So I'm new too all of this and I've been reading posts and a lot of things I understand but some abbreviations I don't so please be gentle. Ok so I'm trying to Root my phone, I understand the steps and everything but I ran into the problem of my Android system being 2.3.3 I found a solution to this by preforming an Unroot to restore it to factory back to 2.2. I followed the steps and I get "error 140 bootloader version error"

*Note Phone is not Rooted.

any solutions? Thanks for reading

Hmm I'm pretty sure when I bought my phone It was 2.1 or 2.2 don't quote me. Is there a way to down grade to 2.2 is my question and how?
