Welcome to Android Central! You could download the apk installer file here, which should replace the old Android Market. com.android.vending-4.5.10.apk | by Android Police for Generic Device

Well, I don't know how to use that file to install it.

if I use astro file manager to go to it, and click it, it say's it's an application file and it gives me the option to either browse the file or open app manager. If I click the later, then it just gives me a "package details" screen, the summery tab says "Name, label, file version", etc, but all of those are blank. On the details tab, it says "Could not open /sdcard/com.android.vending-4.5.10.apk as an APK file".

Download it directly to your phone. Immediately after the download is complete, swipe the Notification Shade down, and tap on that downloaded file. It should execute that way.
