Why isn't my HTC One M8 charging?

Phone not charging - HTC One M8

Hi,

I really hope that you can help me today. About a month ago I dropped my 4 months old HTC One M8 to the water. It was still working but the phone was working as if the head phone was plugged in, so I had to use the speaker to make calls. I turned it off, put it in the rice for about a week, and after that the phone was working completely fine until now. Yesterday night I put it on the charger and it started to charge, no problem. In the morning I found out that the battery was depleted overnight, and since then the phone is not charging at all. Can this be because of the water? Is there any point to take it back to the network provider as I have only the manufacturer's warranty?

Yes, it could be the result of water damage, which continues slowly even if the phone was dried after getting wet. That would not be covered by the warranty.
