Default writing with finger [or stylus] on keyboard

I thought I saw somewhere that you can input words writing with a finger [stylus] using the keyboard. All I see is the option to type or voice record. Am I missing something or can this not be done?
    Thanks

Go to settings. Language and input. Clock the gear icon for the LG keyboard scroll down a little. You will see "path input" by default it is unchecked. Check it and you should be good to go.

Thanks Joe, but I have that checked and I still can't figure out how to use handwriting when I text or email. There is nowhere on the keyboard to select it. All I have is the ability to use voice.

I got it! I checked in the user guide [there's an idea] and I have to hold the mic icon and then handwriting pops up. I was looking for a dedicated button. Thanks all
