I just bought an unlocked Moto X Pure. How will it be upgraded to Android 6.0?

I just bought an unlocked Moto X Pure. I will likely use it on the Verizon network.

Technically, how will it be upgraded to Android 6.0? Do I have to depend upon Verizon or will it be upgraded independently by Motorola through wifi?

I'm eagerly waiting to learn if Android M will enable WiFi calling on T-Mobiles network. I keep reading contradictory opinions on the issue. If it's ever confirmed, I'll order a PE.
