Active Display stops pulsing after 5 min

My Moto x pure active display stops pulsing for notifications after 5 min. Is this normal? Thanks

The hypnotic pulse commands me to obey well before five minutes.

Thanks but that was mostly about the moto x 2014. I googled this and it seems the moto x 2015 active display times out after 3 min. I was wondering because my droid ultra never timed out.

I believe this is normal...I remember reading somewhere that it was changed when they switched from amoled to lcd screens for battery optimization.
