Issues with running the device.

So i unplugged my phone from the charger and it immediately froze. I then plugged it back in then it started working fine again. Until I unplugged it again. Then i noticed my phone isn't charging. So i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why it only works when plugged in but not charging. Droid Ultra.

I think I'd head straight to a Verizon store. Skip the sales. folks at the front and head straight to the tech folks. At our store they're over to one side separate from sales.
Sounds to me like a hardware issue.
