Why won't my photos delete?

I have deleted pictures from Photos (auto backup, not Gallery) and selected "delete everywhere", yet they keep coming back. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, is there a way to make Photos not also be copied to Gallery?

IIRC, "Gallery" searches the entire phone and the SD card if one is there.

If it finds any images, they will show up.

you can prevent it from reading a specific folder by creating/copying a file called ".nomedia" and place it there. Gallery will not display any images from a folder that contains that file.

if it did not obey that law, it would be displaying all of the icons that are used.... 1,000s of them!!!
