Are any of you going to trade your Gear S 3G for a Gear S2 4G?

My wife is considering the swap. I probably won't unless she sees some big benefits or if the ATT one number thing is only supported in the S2 and not the S.

Why go 3G in a Smartwatch?

It isn't a seamless transition. When you move out of BT range it takes about a minute to swap to 3g. The watch has it's own number, but there are settings to making the calls/texts come from your phones number. Also the 3g is turned off when you are in BT range, so you can not get calls on...

3 Gear S Watches: None WORK!

I don't know about the flashing and other issues you have had. I haven't seen anyone else have those kinds of problems. That said the Gear S is not a great international option for most as the SIM card can not support multiple regions. That is unless T-Mobile has the same type of network in...

    Gear S battery issue

When you say hiking, are you using GPS tracking during that?

Is anyone insuring their Gear S?

No. But I generally don't on such things. Maybe it is worth it, but my max loss on the gear s is what 300? So 60 bucks is 20% of the cost of the watch up front. And the return assumes 1) It breaks, 2) I remember to turn it in and can remember who I insured it with. I'll take my risk, but...

In the event my phone breaks, will the S still work?

You could make calls etc, but you would not get calls to your normal number forwarded by default, no notifications would come across etc. The calls would probably be on the watches number, not the phones.

Cradle seems very hard to snap on

My wife broke hers after about 6 months, mine has not broken yet. Do not transport the watch in a bag with the charger attached. If it breaks you can get a new one fairly easily, though you may have to pay for it. We bought 2 new ones as it was less expensive than our time to chase a free...

Are you still using the Gear S?

Had mine on every day (week or weekend) since it came out in the US in November. I really never bother looking for extended apps for it... the basic covers what I need including remote phone usage and notifications.

    Battery life

There is no doubt that the GPS services drain the battery much faster than office / alert use. I think the heart rate monitor might be a battery hog as well, so it might depend on how often you sample the heart rate. The Gear S is a great watch, but it in no way replaces my Garmin. Garmin is...

Where is the & sign at?

For some symbols I can't find I use SVoice. Just go to the SVoice setting and say "Ampersand" then you can go back to keyboard entry. That said.... you maybe better off staying on cell/bluetooth. Wi-fi is rumored to use more power and have other issues.

    Battery life

Color watch faces use more power than black and white ones. GPS and HR monitoring use a considerable amount of power. If you go for a run using the watch to track it some have had issues with GPS not turning off after the run and draining the power.

    Nope, none on mine.

Lots of issues with at&t gear s

Re: Lots of issues with at&t gear s Black and white watch faces make a huge difference. When I use a color one I get maybe half the time I do with a simple one.

Does anyone have a Gear S/LG G4 connection?

There is a thread from several months ago about how to force a paring with a different brand android phone. I think someone made a video on it.

Using the Gear S with another smartwatch?

In theory you could use the Gear S as the phone and the pebble as a watch... But it is a pretty big stretch and you become one of those people who only has it to have it. If you were asking me about something like a Garmin (sports specific watch) then you might have a better case to make.

AT&T Gear S with Verizon phone

Do you ever run or bike, etc. You can go with just the watch and not carry the phone. There are a lot of cases where you might not want to take your phone. Twice in the last few months I ended up at work and realized my phone wasn't. I didn't miss a call, a text, or even an email...

sick of people asking me about my "iwatch" :)

On a board about a specific smart watch, this is up there. If this was a board about world issues then you would have a point. I don't think most of us are actually upset about it, just sharing the experience.

Gear S as useful as Fit Bit?

In general accuracy doesn't matter as much to the non pro as consistency does. Having consistent readings means you can adjust your effort based on past performance. "I know I can do better than this" or "I know my fastest run is x, but I'm going longer so I'm going to stay at 80% of x" If...

T-mobile or ATT standalone plan better?

No need for a screen protector. There is a thread about scratches (almost none) and a number of videos of heavy abuse with no damage. The worse has been the charger, and some have managed to damage the back of the watch.

Deleting "Voice Message" on Gear S?

Re: Deleting "Voice Message" on Gear S? What are you talking about? The voice message is stored on the server, not the phone. The notification itself is minuscule. It really seems like you are looking for things to be negative about.
