Messaging from Galaxy s4 to iPad/iPod

I have read and seen many galaxy to iPhone texting threads. However, I need to know how it would work if I want to send a message to ipad or ipod. I used to have iphone and I was texting with my mom and my brother that are overseas and using ipads and I was using their email address. I wonder if I can still do that using galaxy s4 if they will be still using ipads.

no you can't do that with the galaxy s4 since it does not have imessage

however if you have a mac computer you can use imessage on there to message their ipads etc.
