Android Central Question

I use an old machine for development with 8 GB ram, intel i5 3337U processor. I chekced and the processor does support VT-X.

The emulator is terribly slow, when navigating within the android menus I get around 1-2 fps.

I tried:
- Updating Android Studio and Windows 10 to the latest
- Confirming if virtualization is enabled in the BIOS
- Confirming I have HAXM installed
- Using OpenGL ES 2.0 hardware acceleration in AVD advanced settings

but to no avail.

Note the emulator used to be fast, like a year ago. I have no clue what causes this stutter and would like assistance to sort it out.

Uninstall the emulator.

Clean up the computer. (Nothing else but Windows should be running when you run the emulator - check services too.)

Reinstall the emulator.

(Emulators are generally slow - the emulator has to emulate running the Dalvik interpreter, written in ARM, on an 8x6 or x64 CPU. And an interpreter isn't famous for being fast either.)
