Hi, Everyone. I have no idea why this is happening but yesterday when i tried to update my Samsung S5 I encountered this message ''the operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your PC or visit a customer service centre.''
I have never updated my phone since i bought it in 2017, so i installed Smart Switch on my PC. I connected my phone but the update button wouldn't show.
I understand that the reason I'm having these problems is because it is saying my phone is rooted. I did root my phone last year but i unrooted it sometime later. However now when i check the device status it says ''Custom'' meaning it is still rooted. However, when i install root checker apps such as SuperSu it says my device is not rooted.
What is the truth? why is my phone giving me mixed messages as to whether or not it is rooted? Is it possible that when i unrooted my phone last year i did it incorrectly and it did not properly unroot? Is there anyway i can fully unroot my phone so i can install an update?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
