I want to delete from the calendar items that are put in automatically by Google or a default..

There must be a default setting for adding holidays and special days on to my calendar. I appreciate all the holidays but there are special days such as Secretaries Day that I do not wish to have in the calendar. Plus they pop up twice on that day. I have tried deleting them different ways and they still keep coming back. How can I get rid of them
