Images from messenger keep re-saving to my phone?

Hi. So if I open messenger, or send pictures through it, etc., all the pictures I have been sent/have sent are in my phone gallery again. Is there any way I can stop this? It's very annoying. I just opened my gallery and there were 29 photos from messenger that I had previously deleted from my phones memory.

Is this the stock Messaging app, Facebook Messenger, or Google Messenger? How did you delete the photos--using the Gallery app, or the My Files app?

Facebook messenger, sorry! I delete through my gallery. These are images I never even saved in the first place. I don't even have to open the chat from the person who sent me them, they save regardless.

They might be getting cached by the app, and the images are incorrectly showing up in the Gallery. This can occur if the developer forgot to add a ".nomedia" file in the directory where the cached images are stored. In the Gallery app, tap one of those photos, then look at the photo's information/details. What directory are those images in?

It just says it's in the 'people' category. Path is 'storage/emulated/0/pictures/messenger'

Are these random photos from those FB friends, or are they profile photos (i.e., the cover photos on their FB page)?

Like I said in the first post, it's all the pictures people have sent me in the past few months. Even if I am not in their chat. It only happens when someone sends me a picture.

When you log back into messenger does it really save your photos to gallery as today's date?
