my galaxy j3 keeps popping up unfortunately keyboard has stopped

My phone keeps popping up the unfortunately keyboard has stopped working message. When I enter the settings-application settings there is no samsung keyboard for me to select. I have tried taking out the battery and it still shows the same message.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist after a reboot? If you go to Settings>App Manager, you can't find Samsung Keyboard listed there? You may have to tap More>Show System in that menu.

Perhaps you can use a custom keyboard instead? I highly recommend SwiftKey keyboard.
