Question Photos will not open.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite. Android version 13. I take photos, they appear in the Gallery as they should but, when I click to open them, they do not open but display a grey generic icon. Can anyone suggest a fix, please? My photos are set to store on the SD card.

Your SD card is probably pooched. Incase it isn't though, have you removed it and tried it in your computer? Also, never rely on an SD card for storage, always have another means of backup.

Sounds like maybe a corrupt SD card.

Try setting the storage to internal & take a picture to check if you still get the grey icon or if it'll open.

Thank you all for your responses. Yes, I do directly store my photos on my SD card and, yes, I did change the card recently so I am certain that would be the issue. I will look into it and confirm back either way. Very insightful of you all. Oh, yes, I do have a full backup made when I changed the card plus cloud storage, so all is not lost.

What a good forum. I must visit more often.

I'm glad you backed everything up before changing cards. That was very wise.
