S22: Android Update Yesterday, Now Text Messages No Longer Wake Up Screen

Subject says it all. Prior to the Android update yesterday, text messages always woke up the screen and showed as a pop-up. Now, I just hear the alert sound and then see the notification on the AOD. I believe I've tried everything, but I would appreciate any input on how to fix this. Thanks!

Ill give you 2 more to try

Reset app preference, go settings>apps>3 dots upper right corner tap

Repair apps in recovery menu

Reset settings>go to settings>general management>reset>reset settings

You have to go to settings lockscreen then click on Always on Display untick show for new notifications and choose tap to show or show always or show as scheduled that will fix your notification.

i haven't ever had an issue with samsung messages waking up the phoone when a message comes in after any update. i only had the issue start when i switched to the google messages app, and i still haven't found a fix

Im not sure how some are having this issue with Google messages , its set to unrestricted use you cant even optimize it for battery use

Edit that lol that was on my pixel 7pro , on Samsung device change Google messages to unrestricted

i never thought about that, changed that setting, but it didn't change anything. screen still doesn't turn on when a text comes in

Try rebooting the device after that change

Unfortunately, despite everyone's suggestions, my S22 still doesn't wake up with a text message.

How's your lock screen setup , AOD always or no AOD?
Have you downloaded any apps like AoDnotfy? Something definitely not right

Long press message app >tap info.>catagories tap>incoming message tap >what's the lock screen setting there

I'm having literally the exact same issue

Galaxy S22. Updated the other morning and ever since the wake screen will not activate when receiving a new text

My settings are exactly the same, except for I choose "show content" on the lock screen.

That just a preference setting, put in safe mode then see if it works

What do you mean by "safe mode"?

When u long press the power button until power off menu shows on the screen then long press it on the screen until safe mode pops up this will disable any 3rd party apps to test just native apps and no 3rd party application is interfering
