Try a different messaging App ON YOUR PHONE. Obviously the Verizon one doesn't talk to Samsung properly . . .

Yes, try using the default LG messaging app or even downloading one from the Play store. I'm using Textra, which is a great app in general by the way, and it seems to work fine, I can see incoming messages and reply to them using voice on the watch.
