Why does my AT&T Note 3 always freeze and restart?

Recently I had to do an insurance claim on my Note 3 because the screen was cracked on it. I transferred all my data to my new Note 3 using AT&T Mobile Transfer. Everything seemed to transfer fine and I had no issue. However, when I applied the software update (to my knowledge) I noticed the constant freeze/restart problem. Sometimes I have to remove the battery for it to restart. What is my best option? Please do not say restore to factory settings because I dread that lol. I don't think it's application problems either. I was told replacing the battery would end this problem but the battery works better than the one on my old Note 3. Please help and thanks in advance.
