I was wondering if I could purchase a Mesmerize and activate it on Verizon. I understand the Fascinate and the Mesmerize run on the same frequencies which I assume means they have the same radio/antenna. The reason I am looking to do this is to get a phone without all the crapware that Verizon likes to throw on their phones.

USCellular is CDMA and uses the same frequencies as Verizon (they actually roam on Verizon's network). But no, you can't activate any other carrier's phones on Verizon.

I know this question is old, but having worked for Verizon I need to say this:

Completely wrong! Truth is that you can activate any other carrier's phone as long as:

1. is the same radio technology
CDMA: Verizon, Sprint, etc
GSM: ATT, TMO, etc
2. is unlocked (hacking, jailbreak, unbranded)
3. theres no reported (with the carrier in turn) problem with the ESN, like reported stolen or lost

And this goes for any and every carrier in the world.
