Anker Battery Won't Charge in Device

So I decided to try the 1700 mAh Thunderbolt battery from Anker. It seems to work well. The only problem is that it won't charge in the device (i've tried charging both power on and power off). When i tried to charge it power off the light turns orange for a second and then turns off. When I try to charge it with the power on the indicator blinks alternately orange and gold but doesn't charge. Has anyone else experienced this?
