This really sucks - I have a Rezound which is a super good phone now that I have the battery issue resolved from when I first got it. I've had no other issues with it whatsoever that I can recall.

Anyway - there is NOOOOOOO reason under the sun that I need to spend $ on a new phone, not even a subsidized one if they still exist or are available for me. Yet when I see that Galaxy Note and then the gal at Walmart showed me an upcoming Samsung S 3 or something like that (it's white and *very* thin and not available on VZW at least not yet) I just drool. I looooove those bigger screens and that Samsung was almost light as air! and the lust sets in and I want one soooooooo bad!

You'd think since I just got a Kindle about 2 weeks ago that my gadget lust would be quelled for awhile, LOL! The Kindle is cool but having it has made me now wish I'd gotten a tablet instead.

Does someone know where I can get me an OFF button for my phone fever? <G> I feel like I should join GA (GadgetFreaks Anonymous) or something.

If there's an off button, I haven't found it, LOL. Just pre-ordered the Nexus 7 tab, I'm going through convulsions waiting. And still antsy for the Windows 8 tablets to hit the end of this year. High on my priority list. Guess I'll be shopping at the Dollar store for Christmas dinner this year. ;)

Unless you're buying GSM I can't see much out there worth spending full-retail cash on . The Rezound is just that good. BTW, I can't wait to see those Windows 8 devices either.

Just returned from a drool session on the VZW website. That Galaxy S III sells for $199 w/2yr contract so apparently subsidized phones aren't gone yet. However, at this point my upgrade shows I'd have to pay full price so won't be doing that.

As for the Win8 phones -- with the way so many people complain about Microsoft *anything* I really am surprised there's an interest in their phones.

The windows phones are surprisingly good, but I've just traded mine in for the galaxy s3 and it's amazing!

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III.

Samsung had a tent in Boston this weekend with lots of SIII's on demo. I played for a while (the thing was light as a feather and zippy), picked up a free t-shirt and water bottle, then asked a demo person about battery life and she rattled off a few stats and said "I bet your phone can't do that" ... to which I replied it absolutely can and more (then I showed her I had the extended battery which made my phone twice as thick and a lot heavier than the SIII.) I guess she won that battle... Oh well, despite the flashy demo I love my Rezound and have no desire to replace it until my next upgrade next summer.

Didn't say a thing about Windows 8 PHONES. Staying far away from those. But the new WinRT tablets? Hell ya!

Whoever said subsidized phones are leaving? They are not, but you plan that went along with it is. You will still get a subsidy on your phone, you just have to take a crappy new shared data plan to go with it. For the same price I'm paying now, I will go from two smartphones with unlimited data each and two dumbphones that barely get used, to 2 and with only 1 gb of shared data. Really? For what reason would I want that subsidy for this plan?

You can keep the same plan you have now and get subsidized phone on two year contract. Nothing changes except that if you have unlimited data, then you will have to switch to a current tiered data plan starting at 2gb for $30.

Fyi, current wp 7.5 phones which just came out a few months ago won't be able to upgrade to windows 8. It will get windows 7. 8 which is mostly cosmetic changes. I don't want to get a high end smartphone just to find out that it won't be able to get the latest software version released about 6 months later.

Good lord, gadget lust is truly the devil. I have an Alienware laptop, Hp Touchpad, XPS tower, a Razr, and a Rezound. Why the hell did I purchase so many devices that all boil down to checking email and surfing porn? I mean seriously. I won't even bring up the Wii, PS3, and 360.

Stop browsing for new phones, visiting forums, and targeted tech sites.

Seriously, After I get something, phone, computer, TV. I stop looking at these sites etc. Just drives you nuts. I'm just here looking for ICS news and tips, after that I'll be done until it's really time for a new phone. Try it, it works and you'll have a whole bunch of free time to do something creative with.

Root and rom. It's like getting a new phone when ever you want. Sense 4 will make your lust for a Samsung phone go away.

This is how I satisfy my urge to get a new phone. Whenever I get antsy I flash a new rom to play with for a while. Heck, even switching to a different theme usually helps a little.
