With all the negative comments out there about VM, and I know its much easier to to make the decision to post when you're disappointed over something rather than post when your happy, but I decided to take the time to post one of the best customer service experiences I have ever received from ANY company I have dealt with. I have been receiving spotty network service over the last 3 days (at least I thought it was a problem with the network). I would get service for 30 mins, then it would completely drop for about 2 hours and continue to cycle that way. I decided to give them a call. (yes i did the reset/reprogram/battery pull/blah) Took less than 2 mins to get through to a rep who did the normal play by play troubleshooting then kindly transferred me to an "android specialist". The 2nd rep asked me what I did to try and get the phone to restore service and stated that there were no network outages in my area. After I told him, he then stated that the radio may have gone bad and refuses to transmit fully. With that being said he stated that he is sending me a brand new Optimus V. I was taken back, I asked him simply--what?? He said it again -- That he would be sending me a new optimus V and asked me if he can place me on hold while he processed the order. UNBELIEVABLE!! no insurance, no nothing, just sending a non contract customer that can potentially leave whenever he wants to a free new phone! I'll tell you what, customer FOR LIFE after that! Thank you VirginMobileUSA!

their old stock of Optimus V ran on 2.2.1 and had a bug where the 3G would disconnect sporadically and work exactly as described.

the new Vs are the same, but shipping with android 2.2.2 and bug fixes for people who dont root.

im sure they are just sending you the new phone becuase they know you will continue to have problems unless you root and they dont want you rooting and installing 3rd party roms.

if they come through and really ship you a new V, you should ship your old one back, in stock condition.

I've heard horror stories about VM from people who've had their service in the past about the service and tech help. Personally I've had nothing but good experiences with them. The plan can't be beat and the android phones are great phones even though they are quickly becoming more and more low end in comparison to newer phones. I can't wait for the Moto Triumph to be released. Hopefully that can be rooted and rom'd

I have always received polite and professional service from VM. I cannot say the same for T-Mobile who I was with when I had my BB. After canceling my TM account, they waited a month and then charged me for two more months. It took a total of 3 phone calls (one call got disconnected a few minutes after they closed their office, did they call back, hell no), and over 4 hours of arguing to get a refund, and they even took out a service charge on the refund. :(

I was with VM before I went to TerribleMobile, and I'm very happy to be back with VirginMobile! ;)

i was on prepaid tmobile with a sidekick (3 different sidekicks) for years and they did NOTHING but help me in every way. all i had to do was go on the site, live chat, tell them my problem, they fixed it and gave me a free month or two.

it was AMAZING. no complaints. i just cant afford them right now.

and the problems i had were things like data connectivity, sync errors, tmail not working, stuff they could fix, not dumb requests. they helped every time

The only experience I have with VM's customer service is when I called to get my number ported from AT&T. My rep did a great job and my number was ported earlier than the 24-72 hour ETA they gave me.

I agree with many others in this thread. VM effin Rocks! I have Sprint, but I wanted my fiance to have a smartphone, even though she didn't want one - I wanted her to have one because i knew she liked to be on her facebook, and all that.

Long story short, she works in Hillbilly land where nobody has a cell phone signal, and her Virgin Mobile phone gets a better signal than her and her coworkers' mobile phones. There is one difference however, and that is that her coworkers are paying near 100 a month - when I pay around $27 per month after tax for her Virgin Mobile phone. Something tells me that Verizon/AT&T and T-mobile could lower their prices and they'd still be making a nice profit, rather than a killing (or screwing)...

If one can't live with only 300 minutes on the Virgin Mobile plan, there is Groove IP (which uses the Google Talk gmail phone call widget to make phone calls), or you can jump to the 40 dollar monthly plan and have over 1000 minutes or 1100.. i don't remember, but THAT IS SUPER Fair.

I look back maybe 8 years when I remember everybody at my workplace having a Nextel (we're maintenance guys). I remember Nextel, then, cost me over $50 a month to have the Unlimited Pager. SPrint plans are really worth it because You can get a group of friends or family..sign up for a plan and Split the bill.. that's an unbeatable price as well, because of the unlimited Any Mobile Any Time Feature.

But back on Subject. VM effin Rocks! :-D
