I have a xperia u phone. I recently deleted the google hangout app from my phone, but I am still getting notifications about updates to the app being available. How do I stop these notifications?
Android version is 2.3.7. Model no ST25i

Did you root your device and delete the app? If not, I don't think you can really uninstall Hangouts, just uninstall its updates (which is probably why you keep getting notified that you need to update it).

Ok, thanks for the reply, so rooting and deleting is the way to really get rid of this app. Is it because when I received the new phone, it came preloaded with the app?

Yes, but I don't really recommend it... I'm not sure if it's a 'core' part of Android or if it uses part of that for messaging. Again, might not be the case and it might not be used at all, but for the size of this app and since it IS a part of the OS, I wouldn't risk rooting/deleting it, I'd just let it update, just never use it (that way you get rid of the Play Store constantly reminding you that there is an update).
