Notification for RCS messages not working

I recently purchased a car with Android auto, definitely is nice to have access to phone apps through the car. One issue I have is that RCS messages do not come through and since Android auto puts the phone is dnd mode, I dont even hear my phone or smartwatch. Any tricks to get this to work? I thought rcs was just added to AA. I am using a Pixel 3a.

Check with the car dealer's service department. If it's a head unit problem, they've had other complaints.

If not, it should work. Try safe mode (and have someone text you). If it works in safe mode, but not in normal mode, it's an app you've installed.

Update:
I found the cause of the issue. I was using the beta version of Android messages. Once I unenrolled from the beta, uninstalled the app and reinstalled the issue was resolved. I am not able to receive RCS message notifications.
