How do I delete non-functional wodget that appeared after my last system update?

Can any Samsung S9/Android users tell me how to get rid of this bar at the top of my screen? My phone updated and now it's stuck there. It does nothing - no drop down menu, can't hold it down and click the "remove from home screen" option, can't actually type into and search on it, etc. I've been through my Display, Home Screen, Widget and Navigation settings with no luck. So am unable to attach a picture, but it appears as a grey search bar with a drop down menu at the top of the screen. It covers up the former dropdown menu to access all the various settings.

Sounds like a 3rd party app you have .
