Why does my tablet only have sound when plugged into headphones?

my tablet only has sound when plugged into headphones

My tablet only plays sound when I plugin headphones, when unplugged i get nothing. Reset didn't work neither did restart. Volume is not muted and fully up

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet is it? Chances are the external speakers have failed.

Either that or the earphone jack has. (I'm assuming that the tablet hasn't been opened and a wire got cut or torn.)

That's a good point--although if the jack was broken and constantly thinks headphones are plugged in, you should see the headphone icon in the Notification Bar, even when you've unplugged them.
