Getting new browser tabs of a scare ad of DU Battery Saver

Not until a long while ago i started getting these, redirects/new tabs on my browser whenever accessing certain webpages, that preset to me a fake warning message that either my sim card is broken or my battery is going to die if i won't download DU battery saver immediately, and bogus like that, but i never remember getting those before i tried out one of these battery savers, or even DU battery saver itself, so my question is: could my device be already infected with an adware that it spams me this scare ad?

Welcome to Android Central! If the only come up when you're browsing certain websites, then it's not a virus. Try clearing all of your cookies, the browser cache, and the browsing history.

This essentially tells me that DU Battery Saver is bad news and should be avoided. Even if it is a legit app, this kind of advertising practice is reprehensible, and we should show them by not installing it.
