My Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 wont let me change my screen lock password

After I got my phone, the only lock that was on to secure my phone was the slide so I went into the security options and into the Screen Lock option... but the only option I have is a password... how do I get the PIN lock option on my phone

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Security>Device Administrators. Is there anything there besides Android Device Manager? If there is, then there might be some security app that is limiting your screenlock choices. Try unchecking the app and see if you choices increase.

You can also try going to Settings>Security​ and tap Clear Credentials.
