AC Question

How do I backup my CM Browser bookmarks?
I have a Galaxy S5 running Kitkat 4.4.4.
I need to update to Lolipop, but first backup everything on my phone.
I have tried a couple of popular backup apps, but they are only backing up Chrome Browser bookmarks.
And CM Backup doesn't even back them up! It only backed up Chrome bookmarks!
Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! If there aren't any sync options in the CM Browser menu, then you might not be able to do it. Email the developer and see if they can help you: browser@cmcm.com

I emailed a couple of days ago about this and haven't heard back from them.
If I could find out where they are stored on the phone, maybe I could just copy and move the file and then move it back after a factory reset.

If they're stored somewhere you can access, they'd probably be somewhere in /Android/data/. But they might also be stored in a system directory that is inaccessible to you.

There's unfortunately no way to tell, because not all app data is backed up that way. I think it's something the developer has to code into the app.

Hi all, for those who want to export bookmarks from CM Browser very easy i recommend Titanium Backup.

The steps to export bookmarks with all your Cm Browser settings and download list are:

1. Install "Titanium Backup"
2. Open "Titanium Backup", wait a couple of seconds to load, and then tap the middle icon from upper side of screen named "Backup/ Restore".
3. Find the name and icon of Cm Browser x.x.xx and tap on them.
4. In the next window tap "Backup !" and wait

That's all

Now you can restore data, apk or both.

If you reinstall Cm Browser, open "Titanium Backup" and go to the end of list and you will see the name "Cm Browser" with a line over text.

Tap the name and pres the button "Restore" and select what to restore "App Only" or "App + Data"

App Only will restore just the app without settings, bookmarks etc
App + Data will restore the app with all your settings, bookmarks etc

Hope these info will help somebody

Good luck !

This method works for any other app that don't store additional files on external sd card or in other folder of internal storage example fastnote app.

Thank you for the info, however, your phone must be rooted in order to use Titanium Backup to backup app data. And mine is not. I haven't found a way to backup CM Browser bookmarks other than copy & paste the url to each and every one. Very inefficient if you have a lot of bookmarks like I do.
