For some reason the ringtone I want to set on Whatsapp isn't showing up on the "Notification tone" list, there's no "browse device" option nor is it in the list shown, I've tried putting it in the Notifications folder, the Ringtone folder, and any other folder that seemed to make sense where Whatsapp would look for a ringtone (both device memory and SD card).

Welcome to Android Central! How are you moving the sound file to the Notifications folder? I have found that if I download a sound file directly to the phone (into the Downloads folder), then try to move it to Notifications using the file manager, the system doesn't find it when I try to choose a new notification tone. But if I move the sound file directly into the Notifications folder (e.g., copying via USB from the computer hard drive directly to Notifications), then it does find it. Try that.

FIX :D

I will try to do this... USING XPLORE IN ROOT MODE + FORMAT FACTORY FOR WINDOWS
First of all this is how my ringtone selection list on whatsapp settings looks like:

Let's try to find it !

I tried to copy my own ringtones as mp3 and m4a but it seems the system doesn't recognice it. I'll give .ogg format a try

The original Tinkerbell.ogg file haves an audio bitrate (VARIABLE) between 112kbps and 137kbps (I see this thanks to MediaInfo included in the free K-Lite player codec pack for windows). So we will convert our mp3 file to .OGG at 128kbps

Convertion settings:

Now copy the new converted .ogg files to your sdcard, then use XPLORE to copy those files to /system/media/audio/notifications (that's the folder path in my case). Kill whatsapp process (or restart phone) and open whatsapp notification settings again:

Voila. Roll us a giant is my custom ringtone :)

Ps.: You can put [SOLVED] in the post name ^^
