Can't type in messaging apps anynore

Hello,
On an HTC one m8 lollipop.
Yesterday something weird started happening. If I go to type in the body part of a message, the message disappears and I'm taken back to the main screen of the app.
So far tried in verizon msg app, hangouts and Facebook messaging.

At the same time this started happening, Facebook also started misbehaving. Just crashed to the backround all the time.

Help my phone is becoming useless all of the sudden.

It has been posted elsewhere in these forums that Facebook has caused lots of problems. You may want to try uninstalling FB and see how that work. It could be your problem, it not you can always install it back. I also see you are on Lollipop, after a upgrade to Lollipop it is almost mandatory that you at least do a Wipe Cache Partition from the recovery mode. In some cases you may need to do a factory reset, BE SURE TO DO A BACKUP FIRST.
