How do I remove widgets from my lock screen?

I've had my Optimus G Pro for almost 2 years now, and just recently it put the hangout widget in the middle of the lock screen instead of the time. I've tried changing the lock screen to swipe and pattern, but it is still there. If I swipe to the side it asks to me add more widgets. And I can't find anything in the settings to change it. It only talks about the ones at the bottom, which I have set.

Welcome to Android Central! Long-press the widget, then drag it to the Remove area at the top of the screen. It will prompt you for your unlock password or pattern at some point, to confirm that you're you.
