Would it be possible to use Gear as a PC VR Headset?

A

AC Question

To start things off- I know Gear VR is not DESIGNED to be a PC VR headset, but bear with me. I was wondering if using something like IDisplay as mentioned in a forum post on the xda developers site which displays a pc output through your phone with a usb cord, could work as a method of putting PC VR on the Samsung Gear. After all, this would make the Gear a visual output for the PC- the only problem I can think of is that it would not transmit the right and left images properly. Would it work, or would the VR frames coming from the PC not change to the phone's VR output properly? It would really save me a lot of money as opposed to buying a rift. Thanks in advance, and I hope this was clear enough to understand.

I was thinking the same thing right through a micro usb to hdmi conversion plug right from pc to the plug into samsung VR connector..there must be a way since you can use youtube and stuff on this device already as well..
