Deleted emails from desktop appearing as unread emails in email app on phone

[AC Question]

I have the S6 Edge and I am getting emails that I have deleted from my Outlook account on my desktop showing up in my Unread mail on the email app on my phone (the stock email app that came with the phone). This has been happening since I received the phone three days ago. What it is doing is sending already-deleted emails from past days in chronological order. They only come back to my email app, not to Outlook, and not to webmail. I do have the incoming server setting marked to delete email from server "When deleted from InBox".

Open system settings > accounts. Make sure that Outlook account is set to sync.
