why is my Samsung Galaxy GrandPrime over heating when I charge it?

When it was charging it was under a small thin blanket and I smelled something Smokey. It was my phone. I got my phone and it was 100%. Why and even right now it's smells bad. Why?

Are you using the charger that came with the phone, or a 3rd party charger? Could be the specs on the charger are off, or the circuitry that controls the detection of a full charge is not working.
