Note 5 turns off even though there's still battery left

My Note 5 drains really fast when I get the 15% warning, today my phone ran out of battery and turned off like normal but when I plugged in the charger it said there was still 8% of battery left, not sure if its a software problem.

Welcome to Android Central! Battery sensor software can become relatively inaccurate when the battery drops that low. In general, I would avoid letting it get that low on a regular basis anyway, since that can lead to overall decreased battery lifespan.
