My new laptop battery won't charge past 80%

[AC Question]

My new laptop battery would not charge past 79% when I got it. I contacted the seller and they said I need to calibrate it. I calibrated it per their instructions and now it only reaches "80%, plugged in , not charging". Did I just get a dud?
