How do I get my SD card to work on my Galaxy S7 Edge?

I have a 16GB SD card, it's new, I bought it just a week ago. Ever since then I've been trying to figure out how to transfer files on my SD. I couldn't even write on the SD card if I have my phone plugged in on my laptop, as for writing on the phone alone, no such luck. When I try to move apps from the internal storage to the SD card it just freezes to a certain number. I tried to create folders on the SD card but it always, always fails. I have formatted multiple times. I've searched up what I can do, I have tried fixing the FAT, I even made sure that I installed my SD card correctly... What can I do?

You may have a dodgy sd card. Grab an SD card checker app from play store and just run it to see if the card is OK... there are many knockoffs with the right names etc on card but shonky internals...
