Cheap version of the S8

A

AC Question

Is Samsung making different versions of the S8? like a high end and cheap version? The reason I ask is I seen an ad today for Walmart offering an s8 for 659.00 while most carriers are around a hundred dollars more and also the model number is STSAG950UCP (I was wondering if the CP at the end was for Cheap?)
Thanks

Great question! I can understand being skeptical for sure given how premium the S8 is. This is actually the model for Straight Talk Wireless which is why you're seeing different prices than the big 4 carriers. I can confirm this price is showing on the straight talk site as well:

If this is your carrier, not a bad outright price!

If you don't know who/what Straight Talk Wireless is. This is a great link to get started:

Thanks for the reply.. So are you saying that it is the same version that all of the
other carriers are getting? and not a cheaper made version? Thanks again
It's the same version in a sense. IE the features are the same across carriers like screen resolution, ram, etc.. but every carrier has different model numbers because of the compatibility to a carrier network. For example, Verizon's model number for the s8 is sm-g950uzsavzw. Which carrier are you currently using. Are you a straight talk customer?

I am a Verizon customer now but considering going to Straight talk. But I was basically trying to figure out if there phone was the same (as in performance) as all others.. or if
I should wait and buy an Unlocked phone and then use them as my provider.
