Tried to delete some photos from the Verizon Cloud and keep getting message that I am not connected to the internet. I am connected with excellent signal strength.

Yes, I've had that happen a few times when trying to connect to cloud storage, though I'm not a Verizon user. Have you tried the normal tricks of Power Off & Restart, toggling Airplane Mode, toggling wifi and mobile data, signing in to your cloud account etc?
