Is there a way to stop facebooke messenger gifs from autosaving to my photos?

I sent a couple gifs on Facebook messenger and realized that the gifs I was sending were saving to my photo gallery. This is really quite annoying and I haven't been able to find anything to make it stop. Anyone know how to fix this? It's only with gifs and only when I send them. Thanks.
