Why does my galaxy s3 needs to be close to the modem just to connect to wifi.

every time i connect my galaxy s3 to our wifi modem, it needs to be near to it. and when you go to the next room it loss the connection.. does my phone have a connection problem that i need to replace or fix or does it just need to be configure on the settings of the phone?

The antenna is probably not connected, or poorly connected, making the signal weak. It needs to go to a repair shop to have the cable plugged back in. (After more than 5 years of being knocked around, it's not unusual for a connection to come loose.)
