Samsung s7 edge- is there a way to calibrate the screen ?

[Android Central Question]

I have tried the standard method (settings, language/input, touch input) & the option is just not there. When I set the phone down on a flat surface (table) then try to touch things on the screen OR type/text and it won't acknowledge ANY touches until I'm holding it. Also- is there a way that I can hold it in my hand & type ?? It keeps sensing my thumb & hand along the edge, then doesn't sense my typing.
