Home screen wont accept widget

Widget wont stay instaled on my home screen after i tap a free area to instal it samsung j3

I pick my widget drag it to my home screen a line shows up around the widget it already is the size I want it to be.when I tap a free area on my home screen to insta it it doesnt accept it the line around it stays there and the widget diapears

what launcher are you running? what phone?

And how old is the widget? There's at least one analog clock widget that worked like that from the time Pie was introduced until they updated it. The space was still taken on the screen, but the widget was invisible. If it's an old widget, email the developer and ask them to please update it.

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible there's no room on that homescreen page for the widget to fit. If there are already other widgets on that screen, remember that widgets can take up more space than what's displayed.
