I've seen recommendations about keeping lithium batteries between 40% and 80%. From a practical standpoint, I don't think it's worth following the 80% guideline, because you can't monitor your device constantly while it's charging. The more important guideline is not letting the battery drain deeply on a regular basis (i.e., don't let it drain to zero or single digits habitually)--over time, this can reduce the overall lifespan of the battery. Make a habit of recharging when it reaches 30-40%. Occasional deep discharges are unavoidable and ok--just don't do it a lot.
