How do I open a web page that contains a URL as normal text?

I'm in Chrome 34 on Android 4.4.2 and a web page contains a URL as normal text, not marked up as a link. How do I open it?

I selected it and tapped the share button: nothing useful.

I copied it and tapped around in the address bar: no way to paste!?

Should be long-press to copy - A piece of text will become hightlighted with cursor tabs. Move the cursors to highlight the desired text, then tap the Copy icon in the toolbar above. To paste, long-press where you want to insert the copied text, and a little Paste bubble pops up. Tap that to insert text.

You should be able to copy/paste the URL into the address bar and go. If not, the URL must be wrong.

When you long press, sometimes the selector handles won't appear, you have to tap the teal box that appears to get some more options.
