Can anyone tell me why my Bionic has started announcing "Verizon Wireless" whenever my Bionic receives, or makes, a call?

More importantly, tell me how to stop it, short of turning the phone off.

No, I am not rooted and prefer not to be.

Interesting and my Droid Bionic doesn't do that, but then I am rooted and running one of the ICS Kang builds. Do you by chance know what software you are running? Sorli...

Is this set - from home, menu->settings->sound->Call Connect? It's not set on mine, and I do not get that sound when I make and receive calls.

Just checked that and its not checked there, so now I'm curious if perhaps the White Pages app has triggered something, but its not in their settings menu.

Try removing white pages I guess see if it goes away

Turned off Haptic feedback and all was well.
Under Menu>Sound
